
Stop consuming, start creating
When you’re on your deathbed, you know you’re not going to look back with pride at the number of hours of Facebook surfing you did or the number of episodes of “Homeland” you watched. Yet most people think it’s tempting to come home from work and consume four hours of television. Why is it so hard to break old habits? Well, the primary reason is that our brain is lazy and keeps falling into the same patterns if we don’t challenge it. The trick is to replace the habits with other more constructive and rewarding behaviours, things that you can feel proud of and get energized from, like learning or creating. So reserve fifteen minutes everyday for something creative, write a blog post, make a drawing, or play an instrument. Try it for 21 days and learn for yourself what happens with your mind.
